Dog Waving Paw

Acupuncture has been used to treat animals for thousands of years. We use an integrative approach which combines Eastern and Western medicine to prevent and treat diseases in dogs and cats.

Acupuncture is a stimulation of a point which lies along the body's Channels where Qi flows. Qi (pronounced "chee") is the energy within the body, driving actions and transformations.

We combine many different modalities to diagnose and treat your dog or cat. Yin-Yang theory is opposing forces and are important to balance body functions. Just like different seasons of the year, the Five Element theory corresponds to the five phases of the life cycle and correspond to organ systems.

When there is disharmony or disease, there is an imbalance in one or more of these systems. The belief that the body houses a connected system of forces (energy) helps us diagnose and treat the entire patient.

Herbal Medicine may also be used in conjunction with acupuncture to help your pet.

Laser Therapy

Therapeutic lasers use light waves of a specific wavelength to cause photobiomodulation, or the alteration of cellular and tissue physiology. Light absorbed by cellular components stimulates electrons and activates cells to promote growth, proliferation, migration, and repair.

Laser therapy is used for many veterinary medical conditions, including:

  • Chronic arthritis

  • Surgical incisions

  • Tendon and ligament injuries

  • Traumatic injuries

Laser therapy is particularly useful for pets with limited medical treatment options, such as:

  • Pets with liver disease who cannot take medications

  • Cats, for whom only a few pain-control medications are approved

  • Exotic pets for whom medication administration is difficult or impossible

  • Older pets with diminished organ function
